The new Garmin Forerunner 255S is a superb multisport watch. It's an excellent update to the Garmin Forerunner 245, not just because of the addition of the new sensors. It's the smallestGarmin HRM-Pro - Treadmill connectivity. Install the sensor or put on the heart rate monitor. Bring the device within 1 cm of the sensor, and wait while the device connects to the sensor. When the device detects the sensor, a message appears. You can customize a data field to display sensor data. If necessary, select > Settings > Sensors and Accessories to manage ANT+ sensors.

Running power zones can be configured to be based on LTHR (I think it's actually the default), so if LTHR updates as above, your running zones will automatically follow. With the Stryd, I pretty much had to do all out 5k or 10k TT's to get an updated CP, so Garmin's system is a bit smoother, but it may take a bit longer to get to the true LTHR

On the Garmin watch, select “Broadcast Heart Rate” in the settings (learn more about this on the Garmin website). Then follow instructions for pairing your watch with the PM5 below: Pairing Without a USB Flash Drive. Put the watch on, and press any button on the Performance Monitor (PM) to power it up. Saw this today on a post about new firmware for the unit. (In general, you should always pair a Garmin chest strap like the HRM-PRO via ANT+ and not Bluetooth Smart, otherwise you won’t get data like Running Dynamics on your watch, or offloaded swim data. But, there could inversely be some environment-specific case where you may have trouble
To set this up: Create an Online Logbook at Concept2. Connect your logbook with Garmin and/or Strava. Install the ErgData app on your phone. Log in to your online logbook in the ErgData app. Then, for each workout: Connect your heart rate monitor (either watch or chest strap) to the PM5. Connect the ErgData app to the PM5.
